RECESSION REMEDY#11

Marketing is out,
selling is back in

You didn´t make this bed, but,
you´re going to have to sleep in it.
And there are a lot of crooks being rewarded for it.

The American small business owner, the American solo-professional, and the American sales professional just had their job get at least 5 times harder. There is no way to calculate the total number of sales being lost each day in U.S. due to the recoil of both consumer and commercial prospects because of the economy´s meltdown.

People are just not signing the dotted line. People are not writing the check. Fear has gripped the American Consumer and despite a huge bail-out of the very people who triggered this mess, people on so-called "Main Street" - and every other street - have been creamed by this economy—and this bail-out has done absolutely nothing to help.

Certainly, this doesn´t mean sales professionals won´t make sales—some will, those who know and understand selling and marketing in today´s tough-nosed environment. But the overall condition of America´s sales force isn´t good—we´re fat and soft and our skills are probably at, or near, an all time low. We have to sharpen-up!

RECESSION REMEDY#12
Keeping the
sales board
full when
nobody is
buying

Yes, the news is bad. But—isn´t the news is usually bad.

Foreclosures. Bank failures. Layoffs. Corporate bail-outs and bankruptcies.

After a two year in-your-face election you would think America is media-weary. And yet, with a kaleidoscope of potentially lethal meltdowns occurring daily—we can´t seem to shut the news off long enough to catch our marketing balance.

Most of us have our eye off the ball. The "devil of doubt" on our left shoulder is prevailing in the ongoing verbal exchange in our minds. We need to listen to that "angel of optimism". We need to get off our computers and abandon our complicated marketing strategies. Now, it´s a-day-at-a-time. It´s what you get done by 5:00 that counts.

There´s only one way to keep the sales boards full in this economy—and there´s nothing very complicated about it. WORK. SELL. SEE PEOPLE. Those who will survive this train wreck are those who can make the switch from "passive" to "aggressive".
